Polar Bear

Dear Parents:

Today the high school students had a re-run of the lip sync contest held last week. The teachers feel it is important for us to help increase pride in our school. One of the ways we will do this is by providing the students ways to show their support for one another. It was great to hear the students cheering and clapping for each class as they were performing and at the end of each performance. I am amazed at the creativity and the dedication the students have to performing. We have some pretty awesome students in Floodwood.

The early out that we have each Wednesday allows for teachers to spend an hour together planning, learning, and reflecting on their teaching practices and lessons. This week in the high school, we continued to talk about being intentional in our lessons. When we are moving toward accomplishing a specific goal and the students know the goal, they are likely to achieve success. In the elementary, the teachers were talking about how to encourage and celebrate excellent attendance. In order for students to be at their best, they need to attend school on a regular basis. If your child is struggling with coming to school, please reach out to us. We are here to support you and your child.

The cafeteria’s Ala Carte menu items will be available for students to purchase from 3:00-3:20 p.m. every day. We want to give the students who stay after school for activities an opportunity to get a snack.

The Multi-Tiered System of Support team had its first meeting this week. This group of teachers gets together to discuss students who are struggling either academically or behaviorally. Our goal is to reach students and provide support. If you feel like your child isn’t as successful as you think they should be or aren’t sure how to help your child at home, please connect with your child’s teacher or to me.

The weather is getting colder. Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather. The elementary students are outside at recess every day unless it is raining.

Our next informational meeting on the operating referendum is October 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the media center. If you have questions, we do have a link on our website (www.isd698.org) that will provide information. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me or Teresa Hart at the school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rae Villebrun
