Hello Volleyball Sports Fans,
Tonight’s volleyball game is Invite Only as each player gets to invite 2 people to attend. The gyms are marked with social distancing sitting areas. There will not be concessions. The only entrance that will be open is the main entrance (polar bear side). The games will be published on live-feed via Floodwood School’s Facebook page and the Floodwood Volleyball Facebook page.
Tickets must be purchased in advance for tonight’s volleyball game and all home volleyball games coming up. Walk-up sales will not be allowed.
Advance payments are available online via Campus Parent Portal or you can call Teresa Hart directly to make a credit card payment at 476-2285 ext. 70105. Please bring your receipt with you for admittance.
There are 5 home games left, including tonight’s game. You can either pay in full or pay for the days individually. ($6 adults/$3 students & seniors)
There is no cost for the junior high game for those that are on the invite-only list.
Game workers are free.

Kindergarten students recently created a huge map of our Floodwood community! This project had students apply character traits they are learning about in class: Making Improvements, Persevering through Challenges, Thinking Creatively, and Cooperating with Others.
Our map is a work in progress, but we couldn’t be more proud of this initial phase. Way to go, Kinder Crew!

On Call Snow/Ice Removal Operator for Winter Season 2020
$20/hour (negotiable with experience)
Operate district provided heated Bob Cat with sweeper & plow - removal of snow and ice from school parking lots and sidewalks on an as needed, on-call basis. Must be flexible for early morning hours before school starts, evening hours, and before and after events. Flexible hours on weekend.

Early Childhood / Preschool Screening: October 9th, 2020 & March 5th, 2021 (no regular preschool classes on those days)
Early Childhood Screening is required before a student starts kindergarten in Minnesota. The screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is doing at 3 to 4 years of age. It identifies, at an early stage, possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before starting school. It is not a readiness test for kindergarten.
Early childhood screening helps a parent find out how their child is doing, helps connect families to early childhood programs and other community services, and is a time to ask about parenting issues and/or concerns. If your child has been screened through a Special Education evaluation, they do not have to be screened again.

What happens during a screening?
During the Early Childhood Screening, well qualified staff, licensed teachers, and school nurses will check your child's vision, hearing, growth, immunization status, and overall development (skills in thinking, communication and language, large and small muscles, and social/emotional development.)
Should I wait until my child is ready to enter kindergarten?
No- the earlier the better. Waiting until a child is in school or ready to enter school may be waiting too long. If your child is 3 years old and has not been checked for health and developmental status, call (218) 476-2285 ext. 70106 for information on how to get your child screened.
When are the screenings held?
Floodwood Early Childhood Screenings are held 2 times during the school year. This year it is October 9th and March 5th. There is no regular preschool class on those days.
Is there a cost?
There is no charge, however appointment times are needed.
2nd grade went out to the school forest looking for log hotels after listening to the story, Log Hotel by Anne Schreiber. They had a fun time finding the logs and cleaning up the trailhead by the playground.
