Due to the low numbers of COVID-19 in Floodwood and the Governor’s recent announcement, graduation will look similar to years past.  Although it will not look exactly like a traditional graduation, we are excited to have graduation!   Thank you for your continued support and help as we send these exceptional graduates out into the world.

IMPORTANT Message from Education Commissioner Heather Mueller:  Our youngest Minnesotans remain ineligible for vaccines, and eligibility for 12- to 15-year-olds was just announced this week. As a result, Minnesota’s Safe Learning Plan, along with the existing face covering guidance for schools and child care settings, remain in effect. Through the end of the 2020-21 school year, masks must continue to be worn by everyone inside school buildings or on a school bus.

We are making great progress in our fight against COVID-19, but school-age children have been significantly impacted by the virus in recent months, so we must continue to be diligent with health and safety practices through the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.

Congratulations to Dave Rohde’s shop class!

The Floodwood Industrial Arts program just received a grant from Explore the Trades in St Paul, MN

The grant is providing equipment needed to plumb a complete bathroom. The shop will receive: a bathtub, shower stall, wall mount bathroom sink, toilet, hot water heater, valves for tub, shower and sink as well as a few misc. supplies. These items will be used to add to the many trades that are being taught in our Industrial Arts Program. This program broadens the skill level of our students and helps bring awareness to the numerous valuable trades that are available to our students upon graduating from Floodwood High School.

Sniffling?  Sneezing?  It’s pollen season...

Steps to take if you have allergies:

  • Sign up for pollen alerts. You can get a pollen and mold report for the Twin Cities area from the National Allergy Bureau.

  • Make sure you carry your asthma rescue inhaler with you.

  • Limit your outdoor activities when pollen counts are high. This will lessen the amount of pollen allergen you inhale and reduce your symptoms.

  • Keep windows (home and car) closed during pollen season and use central air conditioning with a HEPA filter in your home and vehicle.

  • Wear a hat and sunglasses. This will keep pollen out of your eyes and hair.

  • Shower and wash your hair before bed during high pollen days.

  • Change and wash clothes worn during outdoor activities.

  • Wash bedding in hot, soapy water once a week.

  • Limit close-up cuddle time with your pets that spend lots of time outdoors.

See Asthma Quick Facts and Know Your Asthma Triggers for more information.

The Minnesota Department of Health Asthma, Climate & Health and MN Tracking programs worked together to publish data about pollen seasons using pollen data collected in Minneapolis by the Clinical Research Institute.

Please continue to follow MDH guidelines to help keep all kids in school and decrease the cases of COVID-19.  If your student has a fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, nasal congestion or runny nose, please keep them home.

We are counting on you to help keep all of our students safe and planned events scheduled.
