Letter from Superintendent

Dear Parents:

With the end of November comes looking at attendance for the month. Students who have 100% attendance will be recognized with extra time in the gym and their name on the TV in the hallway. We understand that sometimes students have to be gone, but at the same time, we want to recognize those that were able to be here every day. As a reminder, students who have an attendance rate of 90% or less are considered to be chronically absent. At this point in the year, this means if your child has been absent 5.5 days or more, they are at 90% or less. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to take your child out for the day. If you have questions regarding this new requirement, let me know. I am happy to answer any of your questions.

Basketball season has started. Students must meet academic requirements in order to play. They must be in school the day of practice or a game in order to participate unless they have a note from a doctor for an appointment. At the start of the season, it is typical for students to “forget” they must meet requirements. The teachers are helpful in giving time in class to get assignments done; are willing to work with students during their lunch and before or after school; and even giving extra time to complete assignments when necessary. Please help us help your child by encouraging them to ask for help when they need it.

The elementary classes had free tickets to see The Nutcracker at the Reif Performing Arts Center today. What an amazing opportunity for our students!

Everyone in the building is working to ensure your child has the best learning opportunities possible.

With the winter in full force, please be sure that you have your contact information up to date in Infinite Campus. You will receive a Campus automated alert if school will be delayed or cancelled.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rae Villebrun
