As we welcome new families and community members. We would like to share the history of the school. The Floodwood School has been in existence since 1893 when the first school, a log building, was constructed. This was the same year the village of Floodwood was organized. The sum of four hundred dollars was borrowed from the state to buy books and supplies. The district was not independent at the time, so the school was a County School. Eight children attended the first year. In 1911 the first building was built on the present site of the school. It was a six room, brick building. This was also the year that the school district became Independent School District No. 19. The children were transported to school with a team and wagon or sled. A man and team were paid twenty-eight dollars a month for hauling children twenty-four miles a day. The children that lived too far from town were boarded at homes in town. Their room and board were paid by the state. The first class to graduate from Floodwood, after completing four years of high school, was in 1926. There were five graduates.

GET HEALTHY, GET IN SHAPE, LOSE WEIGHT , TRANSFORM YOURSELF! $20 to Join - 10 WEEK CHALLENGE Start date Oct 4th – End date Dec 12th 2021 Join us! Let’s get this party started and lose some unwanted pounds. Only 2 weigh ins, at the beginning and the end of the challenge. The winner will be determined by the weight percentage loss. Only one person will know your weight. First weigh in will be Sunday, October 3rd at the Floodwood School in the polar den 4-4:30 pm north doors. Ann Bancroft Foundation Our grant program gives Minnesota girls the strength to achieve their full potential while building confidence and self-esteem along the way. We support these girls in chasing their dreams and creating their own path. The deadline for fall is October 1st. Today we said goodbye and best wishes to an amazing person and co-worker. Lois Persons has worked for the Floodwood School since 2000. She ended her 21 years with us today. Thank you Lois for all you have done for Floodwood School and students! You will be missed! Best wishes to you in your next adventure!

4.0 is looking to hire a TYPE III (van/activity bus) driver ASAP; ✨Must live in or near Floodwood ✨Must have a valid class D license ✨Must be able to obtain a medical card (we pay/reimburse) ✨Must be able to pass a background check and drug test This opening is for an ‘as needed’ basis. Most trips are known ahead of time, but some may pop up with little notice. All of the current trips needed are after school hours. $15/hour 4.0 School Services of Floodwood is looking to hire ONE FT school bus driver! Getting your CDL will become more difficult after February 2022. We offer paid, in-house training, paid/reimbursed DOT physical and very competitive route pay. $1000 sign on bonus (first half after you get your CDL and begin driving and the other half after a six month probationary period). One route that you can learn and build a relationship with the kids. You will not be thrown on other routes that you do not know. A huge shoutout to Michels Pipeline, Floodwood for their very generous donation of $2,000 of supplies for the district and students. In the pictures you will see there are items from daily classroom supplies to sensory materials for our littles to outdoor classroom items to kickballs and basketballs for recess. We are so thankful to them for thinking us is and providing these materials!!!!

Thank you to all the families and students who attended Open House and to those that stayed around to cheer on the FHS Volleyball teams! A shout out to our local churches for providing a picnic dinner to all our guests tonight! Thank you! We are excited to see all students in the building Tuesday!
