Today, the FHS band played outside the Riverview Apartments for the residents that live there.

Dear Parents and Guardians: The recent numbers from Greater St. Louis County have increased to 13.74. The number for our area is still reporting 1 to 5 cases in assisted living and nursing homes. For this reason, we will continue providing educational services as we have been. To clarify how we use the data from St. Louis County to make the decision to move into a different learning model: The number for Greater St. Louis County is 10.0 or more The number for our area is 10.0 or more Where are the numbers coming from (a nursing home) How do the cases impact the school Using these steps to make our decision looks like this: Greater St. Louis County-13.74 Our area has 1-5 cases Numbers are from an assisted living/nursing home The cases do not impact the school in a significant way Our students have accepted wearing masks with little to no complaints. Everyone, including staff, are still getting used to the one way traffic in the hallway. The biggest complaint from students comes from being close to a classroom, but having to go around. The reason for the one way traffic in the high school hallway is because this is where the students come in close contact with one another every hour. If we limit the amount of face to face interaction that comes from meeting one another in the hallway, we are keeping the kids safe. The teachers have been taking the students outside as much as makes sense. Sometimes they are outside for brain breaks and sometimes they are outside to do their lessons. It is an opportunity for students to take their masks off while they are learning. We would like to thank families for being aware of the symptoms and keeping children home when they don’t feel well. We also appreciate keeping us informed. Together, we will keep everyone as safe and healthy as we can. Week One of the 2020-21 School Year is in the books. The students and staff are adjusting to the new rules and routines. It has been great seeing kids in the building with their smiles and hearing their voices in classrooms and hallways. After that, I attended and graduated from Minnesota State University - Mankato. I've been teaching for 40 years, primarily in Early Childhood Education, but also lower elementary and Family Literacy. When I'm not busy teaching, you can find me visiting with my granddaughter, reading, and cooking. I also love meeting and getting to know new people! This year at Floodwood I will be the long-term Preschool substitute with Ms. Rachel is home with her sweet new baby. I will also be doing the ECFE program this school year. I am most excited for this school year with getting to know the children and their families, along with having children in my classroom in person!" After graduation, I attended Bemidji State University where I earned my degree in Elementary Education. This will be my third year as a teacher. However, I have worked as a paraprofessional and coached a lot of sports also. This year I will be teaching sixth grade. When I'm not at Floodwood School, you can find me golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake with family and friends. I'm excited to be joining the staff here at Floodwood School and getting to know the wonderful students, parents and the community! After graduating high school, I packed up and headed down to Fort Myers, Florida to attend Fort Myers Masters Commission. In 2013, my husband, Joe and I moved back to Floodwood now where we are raising our three kids. When I'm not at Floodwood School, you can find me baking (especially sugar cookies), in my garden, and spending time with my three lovely kids. I'm excited to be Floodwood Schools new secretary and accomplishing the daily office goals, along with assisting in accounts payable and lunch accounts. I'm excited for fresh starts; a new school year just offers hope and possibilities and I'm looking forward to being a part of that!"
