7th and 8th grade start Flag Football this week

Kindergarteners will take computer assessments in math tomorrow morning. Results from aMath will be used to help guide instruction. Plenty of sleep and a good breakfast is needed to do our best!

7th & 8th grade spent the first couple weeks working on Character Playbook. It is important for students to learn how to recognize emotions in themselves and others, as well as how to handle them in a variety of situations. #developingemotionallyawarestudents

2nd graders creating number sentences that equal each other. Putting the equal sign in the middle of a problem works too. The equals is like a balance scale! Example: 3+1+1=4+1.

Second graders solving an unknown number in the middle math problem. For example one sudent is thinking I saw 10 cubes. My partner pulled off an amount off and put it behind his back. Then he gave me the leftovers. So I know there was 10 now I am looking at 4. What number of cubes does my partner have behind his back? I think 6 behind his back, because 4+6=10 or 10-6=4. Keep practicing partners of 10 Second Grade! Soon you will see a pattern when we talk about partners of 100! Hmmmm....Sincerely, Mr. Nelson

Second graders have Fastbridge Reading Testing on the computer on Wednesday, September 13th. Encourage plenty of rest and breakfast to start the day! Give it your best effort Second grade and you will do fine!

Kindergarten students have been learning about kindness! Encourage your children to show kindness toward others at home and discuss how they can be kind at school(such as helping, sharing, being responsible, and listening). This week: More on school and classroom expectations and our daily routines.

Third graders have beat the teacher 3 out of 4 days at the WBT Scoreboard Game with a mighty OH YEAH! Ask your student to show you how our classroom rules lead them to Polar Pride!

Aligator chomps, candy math, pen pals, and kindness chants oh my! It's been a terrific week in first grade!

In math today, second graders played a game called, "Which bucket will win?" Each student was given one hundred, one ten, and one cube worth one. Second graders saw the impact place value has when filling up a bucket. The other buckets ended up with 40 and 25 in them. Strategy came into play. They found using their 100 square made the most impact. Results of Round 3 they will find out tomorrow!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to school Monday, November 13 thru Thursday, November 16th. It will be open at set time during the day and during Parent-Teacher conferences. See you there!

The 7th and 8th grade have been learning how to ROAR with Polar Pride!

Great news from Telisha Bennett... we received a grant for kids plus from Northland foundation. This grant will be use to support the kids plus coordinator position and to help the program. I've teamed up with Floodwood school community ed and will be offering an after school program on Wednesdays with snacks, planned activities, crafts, homework help, outings such as the school play ground more info will be available after school starts. Here's a sneak peek of our room at the school.
